Lawyers and Doctors for Human Rights is a non-governmental organization that supports civilians during crises and dedicates the time and resources to provide help to stop human rights violations and aid people in need to be effective community members.
- POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Grants and Partnership Consultant helps ensure
compliance with donor requirements at all stages of the project lifecycle and facilitates effective
management of LDHR grants and partners in coordination with other departments (e.g., Programs, Technical Units, Finance, Operations). This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring timely and quality reporting to donors, facilitating grant opening and closeout processes, advising on donor rules and regulations, coordinating proposal development processes, and capacity building of staff and implementing partners. This position also oversees program/business development efforts at LDHR by finding and applying to grant opportunities from a variety of institutional donors to further diversify LDHR’s funding portfolio.
- RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- GRANTS MANAGEMENT & COMPLIANCE:
- Ensure adherence to LDHR and donor policies and procedures.
- Ensure the submission of high-quality narrative reports to donors through coordination with the Management and Program Manager; send timely reminders and clear work plans to facilitate the workflow.
- Support the Program Manager to organize and lead grant review meetings (including monthly meetings, and grant opening/closing meetings) with the participation of the program team and support departments to ensure compliance, review progress towards programmatic and financial targets, and collective problem-solving and ensure red flags are discussed and mitigated.
- Coordinate with budget holders to advise on areas of ineligible or disallowed costs and ensure full compliance with donor regulations.
- Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date filing system on all aspects of grants management.
- Oversee the subgrant management process in coordination with the Program Manager; facilitate subgrant opening/closing with key LDHR and partner staff; provide support on compliance across the lifecycle of the grant.
- Ensure donor reporting processes and other partner technical narratives and budgets.
- PARTNERSHIP MANAGEMENT
- In coordination with Management, collaborate with relevant Departments to identify partnership opportunities with local and national and international civil society organizations through regular stakeholder analysis processes and networking.
- Manage and coordinate pre-award due diligence processes for all new partnerships, including through vetting, coordinating the pre-award assessment with other departments, analysis of risks associated with the award and the identification and implementation of appropriate measures to manage the risks, working with other departments as appropriate.
- Support the development of sub-grant agreements and any subsequent modifications.
- Coordinate and ensure the effective startup of partnership, including sub-grants opening meetings and closeout meetings with partners, programs, technical and other departments, as relevant.
- Support the development of a tailored capacity-building plan for each partner (as needed) to address the gaps identified through due diligence and organizational capacity assessments and monitor the successful implementation of those plans.
- Ensure all files are up-to-date and audit ready.
- Develop and finalize LDHR partnership guidelines for partners.
- PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT:
- Monitor new calls for proposals and thoroughly review the ones published, identifying risks and constraints for each one as well as LDHR’s eligibility.
- Coordinate proposal development processes, including reviewing and improving draft proposals and concept notes, acting as the lead writer for opportunities.
- Participate in regular meetings with the department to ensure regular information sharing.
- REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND ATTRIBUTES:
This position demands a dynamic individual with a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree/Master’s Degree required in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Work Experience: Minimum of three years’ experience, preferably in an INGO/ NGO, in a similar role/with similar responsibilities.
- Language Skills: Fluency in Arabic, and English (written & spoken) are ESSENTIAL; Turkish is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge and experience with international development programming.
- Strong knowledge of the rules and regulations of major institutional donors.
- Working knowledge of budget development and management.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with colleagues in a multicultural setting.
- Effective team player, able to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
- Flexible, creative, and problem-solving-oriented.
- Competence with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Proven skills in effective coordination, mentorship, and working in a multi-stakeholder collaborative environment.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and in high-pressure situations whilst maintaining a calm and positive attitude.
- Ability to come to Turkey, due to the need to work on the legal contractual papers, if any.
