  • Contracting and Offer Conditions: The successful applicant will be offered a fixed-term contract under consultancy conditions, with an estimated gross rate per day/hour.

Lawyers and Doctors for human rights is a non-governmental organization that supports civilians during crises and dedicates the time and resources to provide help to stop human rights violations and aid people in need to be effective community members.

  • POSITION SUMMARY:

The Safety and Security Consultant ensures LDHR staff work in a secure environment aligned with safety standards. This role demands expertise in Syria’s security dynamics. Responsibilities include creating security reports, attending humanitarian security discussions, liaising with external experts, and managing a security alert system to protect all team members. The consultant also advises the CEO on security challenges, devises risk assessments, recommends mitigation plans, and adapts security protocols as situations change.

  • RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
  • Conduct required security assessments, threat analyses, and risk assessments. Provide appropriate recommendations, assist in drafting standard operating procedures, and review risk matrices.
  • Monitor incident reports and routine departmental reports required by management and donors. Maintain the associated database and ensure it is updated regularly.
  • Collaborate with the program team to ensure effective protection and coverage, especially during field activities.
  • Establish a clear process for employees to report safety or security concerns.
  • Respond promptly to distress calls, panic alarms, and emergencies involving disorderly conduct or disruptive individuals, addressing incidents quickly and appropriately.
  • Review and, if necessary, update the organization’s policies on accidents, incidents, trespassing, suspicious activities, safety, and fire incidents.
  • Prepare daily, monthly, and semi-annual reports, including pertinent information, observations, and recommendations.
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND ATTRIBUTES:

This position demands a dynamic individual with a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a demanding and fast-paced environment.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Health, Development, or social science or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience, preferably in an INGO/ NGO, in a similar role/with similar responsibilities.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in Arabic, and English (written & spoken) are ESSENTIAL; Turkish is a plus.
  • Effective team player, able to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Flexible, creative, and problem-solving-oriented.
  • Competence with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and in high-pressure situations whilst maintaining a calm and positive attitude.
  • Legally to work in Turkey (Applications with Turkish citizenship will be Considered).
