Position Summary:
LDHR is looking to recruit a Justice Advisor to join the team as a consultant in February 2021. The Justice Advisor is an essential role within the senior management of LDHR. The position holder will be lead on setting a strategy and direction for LDHR with support from the LDHR management. This position is a short-term consultancy position that could be based remotely out of Europe until April 2021. The position would be extended into a fixed-term contract dependent on the availability of funding.

Representation and Networking:
-
Represent the organization in international, regional, and national justice meetings.

Work following the organization’s policy and protocols to respond to requests from international justice agencies.

Communication with international justice professionals and experts.
-
Work to develop LDHR’s transitional justice strategies through communication and follow-up with NGOs working in transitional justice.

Lead on all the organization’s work related to transitional justice and other related activities.

Submission of cases:
-
Assist in case building with international partners to support criminal justice prosecutions.

Develop tools to support the quality, confidentiality, and privacy of the documentation process.

Work closely with the program department to provide advice following the documentation process, ensuring the legal integrity of the documents, medical experts (documenter), and survivors.

Receive documentation cases and work on archiving and keeping it following the tracking chain and the mechanism of keeping evidence in the LDHR.

Work on concealing the identity of the cases received following the terms of the informed consent or as per of the medical expert request’s (the documenter).

Work on developing case analysis tools periodically and regularly analyze cases.

Report Writing and Strategy Development.

Work on developing gender justice strategy

Lead on writing the organization’s human rights reports and follow up on responses and inquiries linked

Work to develop the organization’s internal protocols and policies that relate to justice following professional standards and as per donor regulations.

Support and assist other departments as need.
Person Specification:
-
A degree in human rights law or another related field
-
Experience working on justice and accountability program
-
Ability to work quickly and methodically with close attention to detail.
-
Good interpersonal skills including experience of working cross-culturally, across different time zones, and with people from different cultural and professional backgrounds.

Ability to work to tight deadlines and in high-pressure situations whilst maintaining a calm and positive attitude.

Familiarity with the Syria context
-
Willingness to travel to Gaziantep, Turkey – Covid-19 situation allowing.

Fluent in written and spoken English and Arabic
